I am currently offering online harp/piano lessons using zoom or skype for students to enjoy from the comfort of their own home. I have been teaching the harp and piano for many years, and have had many happy and successful students of all ages from beginners through to University level. As of March 2020, my in person lessons have also temporarily moved online. I'm now setting up virtual recitals for those members of my studio wishing to take part.
The Benefits of Online Lessons:
Online lessons are a wonderful alternative to in-person lessons. Since 2015 I have offered online lessons as a unique, fun and savvy way to take harp/piano lessons, whether you are local to York and with students who might live halfway around the world.
My students are:
Good listeners
Follow directions well
Motivated learners
Independent
Good communicators
Online lessons are fantastic!
Whilst learning online is a different experience to in person lessons, the positives greatly outweigh the less positives, helping both teacher and student to stay safe, be location independent and take lessons year round. After a few weeks of learning online most of my in person students have adapted to the technology and forget that I'm not actually in the room there with them.
The Positives of Learning online:
can save cost and time associated with travelling to the teacher
means siblings don’t have to wait
offers the chance to learn an uncommon instrument such as the harp
The student learns in the comfort of their own home (and it feels like the teacher is there with them)
means lessons can be recorded
No need to cancel due to minor illness or bad weather
Encourages practice as the teacher oversees the students set up with the instrument for the lesson, and they are able to continue playing going straight into practice when the the lesson finishes
